Red Doors

Filed under: Daily Tips — robin at 4:44 pm on Tuesday, March 16, 2010  Tagged , ,

Today’s Feng Shui tip from Astrology.com suggested that painting your front door red or green would bring good luck.  Your front door symbolizes the mouth of chi and is considered the entranceway for all life-improving and good opportunities.

If you aren’t willing to paint your door red, the tip said to give your door a good scrubbing and place a red pot of red flowers to the left side (looking from the outside) of your front door.

This was great news for me because every spring and summer I place a pot of red geraniums right there, to the left of my front door and I can certainly spend a few moments washing away the winter dust.   Unfortunately the door itself is fairly new and painting it red is not an option.

Do you have a red, or green door?  Was it painted that color purposely, or just by lucky coincidence?

To keep the good luck that has entered your home from disappearing down the drain, the tip also suggested placing a leafy green plant to the left of your kitchen sink.   Again, I already have that covered.

I love it when I’m already following the suggested daily tip.  Makes me feel luckier already!

There are so many fascinating historical, cultural & religious traditions behind red doors. I live in a mostly Jewish neighborhood where a large majority of front doors are painted red as a symbol of faith…but being of Irish descent myself…we paint our front doors red to keep ghosts out.

Since most cultures have good reasons for painting a front door red…I don’t see how anyone could go wrong with a red front door!

How interesting…I have a white front door which is said to be a beacon for angels to enter when they are needed, I have many ghosts and so can’t really do the red-door thing as I like having them around.

I am going to paint a red flower in a red pot outside my door as if I used real ones I would need to buy a new one every week…yep It’s that kind of neighbourhood as well as the fact that flowers & plants have a tendency to die on me.

Irish? I would have thought the doors would have been painted … green.
joke, joke :)

Today @ my end, the day that’s already almost over, was St Patrick’s Day.
Not a nano ounce of Irish me – that I know of – but I wore green all the same.
So Happy St Pat’s Day to you, MysticMama :-)
