The Verticle Deck of Tarot Cards

The Tarot cards are the most popular form of divination {fortune-telling}around today. The tarot cards have such a long & interesting history which goes back many centuries but their beginnings remain a mystery. Maybe  it is the mystery of the tarot cards origins & the real reasons behind their invention that makes them as popular as they have become especially over the past 50 years or so.

There are many versions of the tarot cards in circulation today, each & every deck of cards that have been designed appear to be totally different from each other to the outsider, but to those “in the know” about tarot cards such as those that read the tarot & those that have studied the cards know that although they are each different in their appearance that they are all exactly the same, holding the same position within the deck & all have the same names.

There have been many claims made to the cards invention over the years which include “The Order Of The Knights Templar”, an ascetic military Order founded in 1188 to protect pilgrims & to guard the routes to the holy land, also it is rumoured that the cards are of Egyptian origin & the name ”Tarot” actually should be “Thoth” who is said to be an ancient Egyptian God of magic, which backs-up the theory that the cards were created in the Far-Eastern initiationtemples. For all we know the tarot cards may have been invented in your back-room as the mystery to their creation really is what it says “A Mystery”. So if you have some form of proof to the cards being first created in your own back-room then please step forward & the mystery at last shall be solved. {hehe, only kiddin’}.

Unfortunately though, although we can be certain of the names given to each of the 78 cards in the Tarot deck the same cannot be said of how or indeed why & when the cards should be used. It is agreed by scholars who have studied the tarot in great depth from all corners of the globe that the general, standard method & card meanings are probably accurate. How they can say such a thing when there are no records that are known of anywhere in the world for me begs belief but who am I to argue…&  with learned scholars no less!..

And so it has come to pass that although the card decks may look different they are in fact all the same & carry the same meaning in which case it also means that the way they should be read is the same for everyone too {another thing which I don’t agree with as I & a few others have another advanced method of reading the tarot which gives a far more in-depth reading} but for now I am going by that which is generally accepted “as is” by the majority…backed-up by the scholars. The method by which I myself read the tarot cards is meant for advanced tarot readers who already have a good knowledge & understanding of the way the cards work & want to take their work with the tarot that bit further than most are comfortable with…I often wonder what those scholars would say about that had they been around today!
