As the reincarnated beings that we are, there is absolutely nothing new in anything we can ever think, say or achieve – no matter what field we are in.
It is only the form of what we currently do on modern-day planet Earth that deludes us into thinking that what is happening in the world or in our lives is anything … new.
A few nights ago, I watched Shooter, a film starring Mark Walhberg as the main ‘mean dude’ fighting for the just cause among street explosions and the whizzing of bullets. Wahlberg’s unshaven, craggy features, manners and cool-headedness while under attack reminded me of Charles Bronson, the “tough guy” of the ‘70s.
And then came the thought that a soul’s reincarnation would share such similarities with his/her karmic ancestors in terms of physical traits, personalities and preferences – not unlike certain members of a family, sometimes generations apart.
Spoiler, because Walhberg was born in ’71, some 32 years before Bronson’s death … I’m confident the two men do not share a common karmic DNA.
For the sake of the exercise though, both men are shorter than the average with Wahlberg coming in at 5 ft 7 and Bronson at 5 ft 10. Both have the proverbial rugged good looks and buff bodies.
Both have a matt complexion and both have played the role of Mr. Average who, through circumstances, has to fight for his life and that of others in a ‘bad ass’ way but with their heart in the right place, as is the case in Bronson’s The Dirty Dozen and The Great Escape.
Anyway, the 2 photos side by side bring in my point and, yes, dates of birth and death aside, the similarities between these two men work for me in regards to the fact that nothing is ever new – not a body type, not a fictional character, not an expression, and not the person behind the face.
On another topic, we might be mesmerized by digital technologies but technological breakthroughs have been happening through the succession of centuries. So have medical advancements.
Having said that, we, here and now, are still unable to even begin to eradicate violence, poverty and such illnesses as malaria and dengue fever, induced by mere mosquito bites.
Actually, it would appear that two fifths of the world’s population are now at risk from dengue.
Once an illness of the past, antibiotic drug resistant tuberculosis spreading through the air we breathe, is once again rearing its ugly little head. Well over 9 million cases were diagnosed in 2007
How “yesterday” is that?
When it comes to cancers, although Hippocrates who died in 370 B. C. described several kinds of cancers , it seems clear that, like Medusa’s heads, rather than capitulate to our medical advancements, cancer creates variations on its own theme.
Oh and let’s not forget that diseases that originate in animals are the current and most important threat in causing new diseases to emerge. The world, we all know this, is bracing itself against new and more robust strains of Influenza – another blast from the past.

This is sad info about the sad state of the world.
What yo write about, CC, rings as true but how can an ordinary little person like myself change from the inside out?
