Amulet of the Day – Labrys

Priestess Power

This image of a double-sided axe was found on the side of a Minoan vase, dated from 1,600 BCE. It was a symbol of the ancient, mythical Amazon tribes of Asia, North Africa, Anatolia, and the Black Sea area. They were the priestesses of Artemis.

The Labrys is a symbol of regeneration and the powers of life unfolding.

When you draw out the Labrys it is a signal that you are ready to embrace the power of the priestess within you. You are more aware of your psychic powers and have found yourself in a position of leadership to others. You understand the need for balance in a world that is constantly evolving and changing. As well, you understand the need for change and evolution as that which cannot or does not change must stagnate and die.

This may mean you will face a time of radical truth-telling. You may need to confront situations, personal or political, using words, thoughts and creative expressions that may be considered a bit unorthodox to others. Face it bravely, with the Labrys in your hand.

Amulet of the day: Temple

Breakthrough, Awakening, Healing

Temple

Breakthrough, Awakening, Healing

Some of the oldest megalithic temples dedicated to Goddesses can be found on the Mediterranean island of Malta. The image on this amulet is from a temple entranceway at Hagar Qim on Malta. These entrance stones were covered with spiral patterns found on other megalithic gateways elsewhere in Europe. They measure up to five by four yards in size.

The Temple Amulet indicates that you are about to take a big step in your life. A change has brought you to a critical place. An emotional crisis, an upset or accident. Something has happened that has had a profound effect on your life, whether that me a current event or a memory of a past event resurfacing.

This is the time to focus your energies on taking care of yourself. Practice being “inside” your body. Deal with any physical health issues. Pamper yourself with massage and quiet walks in nature. Take a bath, eat slowly, meditate – whatever you can do that will help you to experience and be aware of actually being inside yourself.

The Temple can also represent balance and the union of opposites. It’s a reminder to find balance within your own life as you walk down the center between the stone pillars. Avoid extremes.

Your own healing crisis is awakening you to your responsibilities for  and connections with others. Use the Temple to help you focus your energies.

Amulet of the Day – Snake

The Snake – Shedding Fear; Renewing Hope

Shedding Fear; Renewing hope

This particular amulet comes from a seal carving found in ancient Crete. It is dated back to around 2,000 BCE.

Across ancient Europe the snake was revered, but never more so tham in Crete.

It could shed its skin without dying, making it a powerful metaphor for regenerative forces. Several statues on Crete show a female figure holding a snake in each hand, often staring trance-like, as a prophetic seer.

Snake Gods can be found in many cultures around the world, including India, Egypt, China, the Scandinavian countries, Australia, Native American myths, and the Mayan culture of Mexico as well as the later Aztec.

The Snake amulet comes to remind you that you carry the wisdom of the serpent deep within you. You can address all challenges with the power of the snake within you.

The Snake often comes to a person who has faced or is facing addictions or a difficult past with courage and commitment. You have journeyed to the centre of your soul and faced the “Death Goddess”. Now you are back in the arms of the Great Mother for renewal.

Transformation never ends. The “Dark Goddess” is not an enemy. She is an integral part of the God-force flowing within everything and everyone.

Have you been cutting yourself off from your feminine power? Focusing too much on one side, without balance? It’s time to journey into the Underworld to find and reintegrate those lost pieces of your self.

Amulet of the Day – Inanna, Awesome Queen

Self-Transformation

Inanna is a Goddess who was worshipped first in ancient Sumeria.

Awesome Queen

Self-Transformation

The story, “The Descent of Inanna” consists of more than 400 lines and was inscribed on clay tablets in cuneiform writing approximately 4,000 years ago. It’s possible this same story could have been repeated for over 1,500 years before that in oral teaching traditions.

Inanna was called Her Awesome Queen of Heaven and Earth by those who worshipped her.

She was the Goddess of plants, animals, and fecundity of all living things. She was also a Goddess of War.

Meaning

This amulet signals that a time of self- transformation is coming.  The time is coming to face core inner issues. This can be done through asking questions, and listening for the answers.

Like Inanna hearing something from the Great Below.

From the Great Above Inanna opened her ear to the Great Below.

In other words, she heard and she listened.

Let your questions guide you. The answers to each question will lead to new questions. Follow them to where they might lead.
